This club was originally started in 2007 by
me and
Adam Quirk, a fellow
Brooklynite and food freak.
Adam & I really
loved to cook for people, and sometimes we're both pretty damn good at it.
We thought Ted & Amy
were also great cooks and entertainers. Plus, Adam liked Amy
Sedaris a lot. So we chose them as our muses.
Oh, and Ted lives in
our neighborhood, and I was hoping if I named a club after him, maybe I'd get
a chance to meet him. Turns out that a few days after the first dinner, Adam
and I ran into Ted on the street. I told him about the club, and he didn't
seem too creeped out that he was the namesake of a supper club. Ted was
actually pretty excited about it! Anyways, we hope one day he’ll be neighborly and stop on in. (and Amy,
you're invited too!)
Adam Q
Adam first learned about food by watching his Mom and Grandma prepare
home-cooked Southern and Midwestern style dishes meals in Indiana. He
cooked his way through high school and college via The Olive Garden,
Hooters, Mancino's (Italian deli, grinders), Fox & Hound (pub food, steak,
saute), and a great little husband & wife owned restaurant in Muncie called
The White River Landing. He now makes animations
and other video for the Internet,
grows vegetables on his roof, and is working on a second prototype of The Towel of Turin.
Kara
Under the tutelage of her mother, a Rhode Island home economics teacher,
Kara developed a love for home cooking early on. By the age of 17,
Kara mastered her famous Kara’s Marinara Sauce, the recipe which has since
been published in the limited edition ‘Yummy In My Tummy’ recipe anthology.
She also began her illustrious culinary career at The Olive Garden,
although, not at the same one as Adam. Kara has since become the mastermind
behind countless culinary affairs such as
The Annual Great Hot Dog
Cookoff and
Thanksgiving 2006 and 2007. When Kara is not cooking, she is either watching
reality tv, playing with
cats, or working as a
communications consultant/web designer.
